We had 2 amazing screenings in Colorado – Gunnison & Boulder! We thought we’d just take a moment to share a few tips if you’re interested in hosting a screening.

Tips to Maximize Engagement & Impact
- Encourage organizations to table, including sign-ups for restoration workshops or events happening where folks can learn and become involved.
-
We strongly encourage a post-film Q&A session with the audience that includes 1-3 panel members who are knowledgeable in the topics covered or are key community members. Such an important part of stirring the community pot in your watersheds!
-
If showing a full 5-episode run, consider the pacing based on your audience and their ability to digest concepts and build knowledge over time. Once a week? Once a month? Or an intensive week-long learning dive?
-
Pair with a field day and encourage hands in the dirt.
-
Consider raffling for door prizes to give out after the Q&A. Having these donated from the wider community gets the water-wise word out as well as giving local donors recognition and showing their support for efforts. It’s a fun way to end the evening!
-
Get the word out through communication that best fits your community. We’ll provide you with a screening toolkit and additional promotional materials to use and can also post your event on the Thinking Like Water website.
-
And last but not least…audio and visual equipment should be adequate for audience size. The full screen should be visible and readable from all seats (there’s text and graphics). Minimum resolution of HD1080p and 72” screen size. A separate audio PA system is advised and also consider if microphones are needed for panel discussion afterward.
